GUILLERMO DEL TORO MONSTERFEST DESIGN

(noun)  [LATIN]

an unsettling feeling marked by a desire to investigate and learn; an unusual object

excerpt

To design a film festival based on six impressive and fantastical movies directed by Guillermo del Toro, by finding one or more common threads of narrative that runs through them.

synopsis

Guillermo Del Toro is a Spanish director who rose to fame due to his extraordinary eye in the fantasy-horror genre. It was quite a challenge to thread The Devil’s Backbone, Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth, Crimson Peak and Pacific Rim together in just the classic horror or adventure genres—the graft between his stories runs deeper.

To a certain degree, one would say that each storyline in this film festival follows an innocent "child" defaced by tragedy, so much so that monstrous things are not repulsive, but curious to their imaginative minds.
